1910 T225 Tobacco boxing card of Marvin Hart
with pre-printed signature. This facsimile has
characteristics of a Hart signature and the original
used for this card was likely a genuine Hart autograph
in my opinion.
Marvin Hart's signature has only recently come out of the shadows and into the boxing collecting hobby's consciousness. Only a few years ago, most people weren't sure if a genuine Marvin Hart signature even existed.
Since there seems to be less than a dozen Hart signatures around, it is very difficult to establish a timeline and an evolution of his autograph.
I have put up on this page every Hart signature that I have seen and honestly believe to be a Hart signature example that is within the parameters the hobby accepts from a Marvin Hart signature. Some of these signatures have a believable
provenance.
It is ultimately up to the hobby's collectors at large to determine what they consider to be a legitimate Hart autograph.
There are a few boxers whose signatures are rarer than Hart, but none of these are a world heavyweight champion like Marvin.
The demand for Hart's autograph pushes his signature into a price range that few other boxing autographs can reach.
